Choose the right method
Sending a photo through Mail or another sharing app may offer an image-size option, but those choices are coarse. A web form may still reject the result, especially when it enforces a strict kilobyte limit.
For a precise target, open ImgTidy in Safari, choose the photo from the Files picker, set the required KB value, and download the processed copy.
Prepare the photo before compression
Crop away unnecessary background in the Photos app if you like. For an identity photo or document, make sure the important text is already sharp. Compression cannot improve focus.
- Use the original photo rather than a screenshot of it.
- Select the exact KB limit from the form.
- Download the result and check the file in the Files app.
Why Safari may pause on very large photos
Some high-resolution images require substantial temporary memory to decode and resize. Closing extra tabs can help. If the image is extremely large, create a smaller copy first or use a lower maximum long edge.

No. The page decodes and compresses the selected file locally.
Where does the download go?
The browser typically saves it to Downloads or asks which app should receive it.
Put this guide into practice: process the image locally without creating an account or uploading it.
